Dry skin is very common during the cold winter months. While many people may experience rosy red cheeks during the colder season, others must deal with dry cracked skin on their face, hands, and feet. If you have dry skin issues that don’t get better with over-the-counter moisturisers, you should make an appointment with a skin care specialist such as a dermatologist or an esthetician. They have the skills and training that is needed to recommend a successful skin care regimen and they can also prescribe stronger creams and moisturisers for your sensitive skin.

Invest in a Good Moisturiser

Although some people may require medication from specialists, others can benefit from using good moisturisers but they may have to pay out a little more to buy them. Sometimes a moisturiser will work well during the spring and summer months but once winter arrives you will need a different type of product. Look for ointment-style moisturisers that are oil-based instead of water-based so they won’t dry your skin out. Keep in mind that lotions that are labelled as “night creams” are typically oil-based. Use Sunscreen

You may think that sunscreen is only used in the summer but it can also be extremely beneficial during the winter months as well. Using a humidifier can help to put that moisture back into the air and that will prevent your skin from drying out so easily. You can place small humidifiers all throughout your home to help even out the amount of moisture in the air.
